Youth participation in governance across the SADC region remains limited, with young people often excluded from key decision-making processes despite making up a significant portion of the population. Weak institutional mechanisms, lack of representation in leadership, and shrinking civic spaces hinder meaningful youth engagement in governance.
To promote democratic participation, SADCYN strengthens youth engagement in governance by equipping them with knowledge and tools to advocate for policy reforms and political accountability.
Programs here target young leaders, youth activists, and civic groups by offering leadership training, social accountability programs, and platforms for policy dialogue. Programs such as youth-led election monitoring, civic education campaigns, and regional integration dialogues ensure that young voices shape national and regional governance.
